Land Acknowledgment 

The statement below was adapted from the ForwardDallas Land Acknowledgment Statement.

The Dahir Lab acknowledges the Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of this land and recognizes the enduring relationship that exists between them and their ancestral territories. The land on which we conduct our work is the traditional, unceded territory of the Caddo and Wichita peoples, as well as nomadic tribes such as the Comanche and Kiowa, and ancestral tribes including the Arkikosa, Atakapa, Karankawa, Tawakoni, and others. This acknowledgment is a small gesture toward a larger commitment to demonstrating respect through ongoing awareness and action.

We prioritize people and open science. We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and strive to cultivate an environment where every lab member can reach their full potential. We value cooperation and collaboration, recognizing that science is both rigorous and exciting. We aim to foster that spirit of curiosity and discovery within our lab, across the scientific community, and in the broader public.
