Naima Dahir, Ph.D.
Principal Investigator
Naima received her B.S. from The Ohio State University and completed the majority of her doctoral training at Utah State University in the lab of Timothy Gilbertson She then moved with the Gilbertson Lab to University of Central Florida, where she earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences. Her dissertation research focused on estrogen signaling and TRP channel function in taste cells.
She then returned to the Midwest and joined the lab of Roger Cone at University of Michigan for her postdoctoral fellowship, where her research focused on central melanocortin signaling that regulates body weight and feeding behavior.
Naima started her independent research group in the Center of Hypothalamic Research at UT Southwestern, where the lab focuses on delineating the sensory and motor processes that regulate ingestive behaviors.
In her free time, Naima enjoys spending time with her family.
